Dan Uggla's Bio

Dan Uggla was drafted in the 11th round of the 2001 draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks. After a breakout 2005 season where he hit 21 homers and 81 RBIs for AA Tennessee, Uggla was acquired in the Rule 5 draft by the Florida Marlins. He started the 2006 season as the team's starting second baseman, and did not disappoint. He slugged 27 homers and 90 RBIs while scoring 105 runs and batting .297 for the Marlins. His outstanding play earned him a spot on the All Star team as a rookie, and he placed third in Rookie of the Year voting. His home run total was 2nd and his RBI total was 3rd among all second basemen in the major leagues. In 2007, Uggla proved he was no fluke by improving his homerun total to 31 while driving in 88 runs. He also scored 113 runs, the fifth highest total in baseball and hit 49 doubles, the second most in the major leagues.

Dan continued his success in 2008, being selected to the MLB All-Star Game and the Home Run Derby.
