About the Authors
Jay Shiner is the strength and conditioning coordinator for the Baltimore Orioles. As an international lecturer and consultant, Shiner has worked with organizations such as the International Skating Union, Canadian Personal Trainers Association, and National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) in both the United States and Japan. As an independent consultant, he trains athletes of all ages, sports, and levels. Shiner is a certified strength and conditioning specialist and certified personal trainer through the NSCA. Also a former middleweight professional kickboxer, Shiner holds bachelor’s degrees in biology (emphasis in kinesiology) and organizational management.Tim Bishop has been the strength and conditioning coach for the Baltimore Orioles since 1993. A former athlete who played professional baseball and football, Bishop continues to train athletes from all sports through his company, PerformFit, Inc. He is a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and has appeared on numerous television and radio stations to promote health and fitness. He has also been featured in Men’s Health, Men’s Fitness, and USA Today. Bishop holds a bachelor’s degree in human movement and sports studies and a master’s degree in exercise science.
